Small Town
There’s a small town somewhere on the map of my heart, it’s the hardest place to find
Because the signs aren’t clear and the road is dark but it’s name is peace of mind
It’s such a hidden location nobody’s sure if it’s miles away or just down the line
But it’s the one destination we’re all looking for, a town called peace of mind
One more weary pilgrim with a tale to tell, one more dreamer walking the line
One more traveller searching for a vacant Hotel in a town called peace of mind
I remember a young man a long time ago wearing all of the hope he could find
More than forty years later I’m still on the road, still looking for peace of mind
I’ve met false alarms, disappointments and tears and I’ve lost my way many times
Still I hope to arrive before I run out of years in a town called peace of mind
One more weary pilgrim still believing in grace in a world that’s cruel and unkind
I’m still looking for a refuge and a resting place in a town called peace of mind
Some tell me I’m crazy it doesn’t exist and I’m only wasting my time
But still I continue, still I persist In looking for peace of mind
Still I continue, still I persist In looking for peace
A small town called peace of mind

Faithtown

Faithtown
There may be trouble waiting round the bend just when you least expect
It can sneak up behind you and take you by suprise, you never know what's coming next
All of a sudden, out of the blue a problem comes along
And all you take for granted that feels so right suddenly all goes wrong
Sometimes the world can play dirty tricks on you, life can take you unprepared
Sometimes it may be good sometimes it may be bad,
Sometimes it’s downright stupid and unfair
Welcome to Faithtown where your doubts line up to meet
Here in Faithtown unanswered prayers walk the street
This is Faithtown where head and heart may disagree
Living in Faithtown sometimes all that you can do is just believe
No easy answers, no guarantees, is it all just twists of fate?
I’m never really sure whether to believe in providence or lucky breaks
So many things that we never understand, guess they don’t matter anyway
The cards life deals are the only cards you get and that’s the only hand that you can play
Welcome to Faithtown where some things are never sure
This is Faithtown you can knock on every door
Here in Faithtown so many reasons you can’t see
Living in Faithtown sometimes all that you can do is just believe
Welcome to Faithtown there’s so much you’ll never know
Here in Faithtown you’ve just got to let it go
This is Faithtown where earth and heaven interweave
Living in Faithtown sometimes all that you can do is just believe

Amelia

Amelia
Child of my child, daughter of my son
The fragile miracle of life begun
You’ve been waiting in the wings and now this is your chance
Oh Amelia It’s time for you to dance
May your Mother’s and your Father’s love
Be gentle, wise and strong and sure enough
And may kindness always be your guide in everything
Oh Amelia it’s time for you to sing
This is your moment beautiful girl
You’ll learn how it feels to win sometimes, how it can hurt to fail
But in the end most of allI pray you’ll find that love prevails
Oh Amelia welcome to the world
Child of my child, daughter of my son
Precious gift made by what love has done
May the world tread lightly on all the hopes and dreams you find
Oh Amelia It’s time for you to shine
You’ve been waiting in the wings and now this is your chance
Oh Amelia It’s time for you to dance

Tumbling Down

Tumbling down
She ran away from home in the morning while everyone was still asleep
And quietly stepped into the bright new day
His promise for the future was ringing in her ears
As she left her world behind and walked away
She was afraid he wouldn't be there, he was right on time
But here was something in his smile that wasn't right
He seemed stressed out and uneasy as he pushed her into the car
She heard the door slam shut behind her life
That's when it all came tumbling down, when the promises turned into lies
And all the dreams she thought she'd found suddenly died
He was tired of going nowhere, he was sick of being poor
So he took the chance they offered with both hands
To feed his wife and family he agreed to take a job far away in a strange and foreign land
He paid them what they asked for it was everything he had
They drove him to the harbour late one night
And with thirty other people In the back of an old truck
He saw his dream go sailing out of sight
That's when it all came tumbling down....
They were tricked, traded, trafficked, degraded they were goods to buy and sell
They came looking out for heaven and found hell
They were tricked, traded, trafficked, cheated, caught and caged
They started out with hopes of freedom and ended up as slaves
That's when it all came tumbling down....

Love is
04:17
|

Love is
It's the Footsteps on the ocean, It's the strings on my guitar
It's the moonlight in the corners of my heart
Its the mystery of emotion no matter how we try
Its love that brings together and love that tears apart
The rolling of the thunder the silence in the night
It's the music of the sun, moon and stars
Love can be outrageous, deadly and contagious
It shapes and it defines just who we are
Love is wild and we cant tame it.
Love's a child but we cant name it
Love can be a stranger or a friend
Love is kind and love is tender but it can be a cruel pretender
Still it’s what we'd give our lives up to defend
It's the only thing that matters in the end
It's the danger in the darkness, it's the damage and the dreams
The hope we hold on to when we’re unsure
It’s the beauty of discovery, the pain of something lost
It’s the one thing that we all come looking for
Love is wild........
It gets the better of us time and time again
Still it’s what we'd give our lives up to defend
Cos’ love is all that matters

The River
04:45
|

The River
The rich man and the poor man side by side, with the crooked and the crippled and the lame
The tired and disappointed, the hopeful and assured
Underneath the skin our hearts are shaped the same
Some may come in satin or in silk, or naked as the day when they were born
The masterful & mighty, the humble and the meek
Come together seeking shelter from the storm
And we’ll all go down to the river tonight and sing to a beautiful tune
We will watch our dreams as they sail into sight and dance by the light of the moon
And we’ll dance by the light of the moon
You may come with superstition or with faith, with all the doubts that you just can’t lay down
The reckless and the righteous, the fearful and the strong
Walking hand in hand on common ground
The renegades who swim against the tide, the lives held in the balance all the time
The poets and the prophets, the mad and starry eyed
Fragile hearts caught in the firing line
And we’ll all go down to the river tonight......
So bring the Priests and Politicians in, let prejudice and pride all disappear
Bring every creed and colour bring every race and tribe
Tell the world that all are welcome here
And we’ll all go down to the river tonight.....

Turn Back Time
04:52
|

Turn back time
I can still remember the town where I was born, how it gave me somewhere to belong
The people look familiar though all the names have changed
Same dreams repeating on and on
There's no way around it hard as you try, change will come no matter what we do
Time doesn't ask permission, it takes you by suprise
And you don't hear the years creep up on you
You can go down with the ship or you can swim against the tide
Try to make a run for it or close the door and hide
Raise a white flag and surrender or stand and hold the line
The one thing you can’t do is you can’t turn back time
We're all getting older, no one gets to choose, when their life begins or when it ends
You can say that age is in the mind till your body disagrees
When you reach that point you can’t pretend
You can go down with the ship...........
You can’t change direction life’s’s a one way street paved with your good times and regrets
But every single minute Is a gift it has to give
You gotta make the most of what you get
You can go down with the ship.........
The one thing that’s for certain is you can’t turn back time

Copenhagen Street

Copenhagen Street
We were drinking to remember we were drinking to forget
All those missed opportunities disappointments and regrets
So many good intentions left undone or incomplete
Drift on the dirty wind down Copenhagen Street
We were trying to drink away all the pain we felt inside
Old friends come together just counting down their time
Laughing at the memories some bitter, some sweet
And crying for the friend we lost on Copenhagen Street
No matter how we try we can’t rewind the years
Like Tattoos they’re the marks we leave behind
The rhythm of our lives they’re the sound of our heartbeats
That echo on forever down on Copenhagen Street
Who knows how long we’ll be here there are no guarantees
We all want to live forever, who knows how long that’ll be?
Wherever I may go whatever steps may lead my feet
Part of me will still be walking down Copenhagen Street
Laughing at the memories some bitter, some so sweet
And crying for the friend we lost on Copenhagen Street

Life's Too Short
03:51
|

Life’s too short
Well it's a Sunday afternoon and it's raining down on one more new years day
I'm thinking about the past behind me and how my future is slipping away
So many friends I used to know these days I seldom see
They’re the patchwork pieces of my life, all a part of me
Roll out the red carpet for the memories to walk on
I used to think we'd all live forever, now I turn around and somebody else has gone
Life's too short, Life's too short, Life's too short,
When there's no guarantee to be found, you never know what's coming down
Life's too short to fool around
So raise a glass to life tonight, live it while you can
If God is up in heaven well we can never read Her plan
Make the most of every minute don't ever forget
That life is no rehearsal it's the only chance we get
Roll out the red carpet for the memories to walk on
I used to think we'd all live forever, now I turn around and somebody else has gone
Life's too short....
So here's to DC, JP, little Roy & Carole E, Nutshell where the hell did those years go?
Big wheels, bad deals, promises & platform heels, Nashville, God's will, I don't know
Bobby K & Nicky B, Henk & Jannet, Norman Reed, Bev Sage, Empty page, Steve & Steve
Rock 'n' roll 'n' radio, backstage & studio, none of us will ever be ready to leave
Roll out the red carpet for the memories to walk by
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die

Being Myself
04:22
|
|||
Being myself
I try to be patient, I try to be kind
But I’m short of the mark most of the time
I can be generous and I can be mean
But mostly I fall down the cracks inbetween
I’m too good for the sinners, too bad for the saints
But it’s no use pretending to be something I ain’t
I’ve spent too much of my life trying to be someone else
Now I’m spending the rest just being myself
And sometimes that’s easy, sometimes it’s hard
Some days I’m ready, some days I’m off guard
I can put on a brave face and wear the disguise
I know how to smile when I’m crying inside
I’m too good for the sinners, too bad for the saints......
I try to be righteous, I try to be good
But my best intentions get misunderstood
I thought getting older would make me more wise
But it still hasn’t happened as hard as I try
I’m still too good for the sinners, too bad for the saints
But it’s no use pretending to be something I ain’t
I’ve spent too much of life trying to be someone else
Now I’m spending the rest just being myself

Ring Out Wild Bells
03:29
|
|||
Ring out wild bells
Ring out wild bells to the wild sky, the flying cloud the frosty light
The year is dying in the night, ring out wild bells and let him die
Ring out the old ring in the new, ring happy bells, across the snow
The year is going let him go, ring out the false ring in the true
Ring out the grief that saps the mind for those that here we see no more
Ring out the feud of rich and poor, ring in redress to all mankind
Ring out a slowly dying cause and ancient forms of party strife
Ring in the nobler modes of life with sweeter manners purer laws
Ring out the want the care the sin, the faithless coldness of the times
Ring out ring out my mournful rhymes but ring the fuller minstrel in
Ring out false pride in place and blood, the civic slander and the spite
Ring in the love of truth and right, ring in the common love of good
Ring out old shapes of foul disease, ring out the narrow lust for gold
Ring out the thousand wars of old, ring in the thousand years of peace
Ring in the valiant man and free the larger heart the kinder hand
Ring out the darkness of the land, ring in the Christ that is to be
